Wattbike TTT 2nd Feb

Wattbike Team Time Trial 50 mile (10 mile x 5) Brand New Format For Wattbikes

Saturday 2nd February at 10:00.  Collyweston Heritage Centre, Main Road, Collyweston PE9 3PQ

A very different format with the club Wattbikes for this event, with a new venue and it would be great to get at least one of our own teams taking part. The format is an inter club event in teams of 5. Each rider will complete 10 miles giving each team of 5 a combined 50 miles. The first rider from each team will ride their 10 miles starting at 10:00 and then after a couple of minutes break to adjust the bikes for the next rider, the second 10 miles will be completed with all teams starting each 10 miles simultaneously, and so on through the team. Note if your team is a rider short then one rider may ride twice or you could borrow a rider from another team, or if you have extra riders why not let them fill in for another team so everyone gets a ride?
This link shows a recent event to give you an idea of how it works, https://www.facebook.com/kate.jacklin.5/posts/10214266001464132

2019 YHA Youlgreave Trip

Ian Todd is arranging our next youth hostelling weekend.
Youlgreave YHA in the Peak District currently has beds available for the 2 nights of 31 May and 1June.
There will be hard rides and easier rides on the Friday pm (if you can get up for then), all day Saturday and shorter Sunday rides. The walking is also super in the Peak District. All welcome and riding a bike isn’t mandatory!
Accommodation is in separate male and female dormitories with all bedding provided (bring your own towels).
Cost each for 2 nights Bed Breakfast & Evening Meal is £76 if we pay upfront as a group booking.
If you wish to go, please confirm directly with Ian Todd at  by next Wednesday 30th January and you will need to pay him the full £76 each so that he can make the booking before bed availability might become an issue. Ian will confirm payment details when you confirm.
We already have 11 confirmed as wishing to go but please re-confirm to Ian T that you still wish to go, on the basis outlined above.

The committee of Fenland Clarion CC are delighted to reveal the clubs 2019 race calendar and programme.

Of course all racing is subject to road works and the requisite number of volunteers/marshalls being available, so please always check with the clubs social media channel or website if in any doubt.

On the subject of marshalling. Club events will only go ahead if everyone takes their turn and joins in with volunteering to ensure we can put on a race.

Emma will be in touch with details of the marshalling rota in due course, so please make sure you are available on any date you are allocated, or can swap.

Thanks in advance for your support.

Ride choice this coming Friday 25th January

This Friday there is a choice of two very different cycling activities to enjoy.

There will be a family ride of around one hour starting at 6:30 from the track and parents are very welcome to join us.

Please note lights are required along with appropriate clothing, and ideally the riders will have a spare tube. The group will ride at a speed to suit the whole group and the ride should finish around 7:30 with the option to then get a hot drink and support the Wattbike riders who will be taking part in some races until around 8:15.

We have a good selection of riders for the Wattbikes who will start promptly at 6:30, and where the format will be teams of parents v. youths. If anyone else still wants to ride in this please let me know and i'll make sure we can fit you all in.

Muddy Monsters a big success

The 19th January saw the FCCC round of the Muddy Monsters series which was held at the Peterborough Embankment track.

The club would like to place on record its thanks to all involved in making this event and the series a success.

Friday evening - Peterborough Athletic Track

Just a quick reminder that we will be at the Athletic Track on Bishops Road once again this Friday ready to start riding at 6:30 through until 7:30.

This week there is a choice of polishing up those cyclocross skills on the grass or taking the chance to try riding on the rollers, where parents can also take part.

Note that next week we will have an extra Friday evening when we will have a family ride and an evening of Wattbike races with the parents taking on the mighty talents of our youth riders.

Hopefully see lots of you there, and as always any questions please just ask.

Would you like extended Youth rides?

Hi to all
I would like to try a few rides that are a bit longer, and possibly quicker, than the family rides for those ready to start extending themselves and perhaps working towards the Sunday clubruns.

These will be around 10 - 25 miles long perhaps including a stop at longer end of the range. Parents are welcome to attend, although optional.
The first one will be this Saturday morning and around 12 - 15 miles mainly off road, but with some sections on road.

Flexible on time and meeting place when I know who would be interested in going. I also plan to lead one next Saturday 23rd if the interest is there.
So please let me know if your youngsters are interested and feel to post on Facebook if you want general discussion on these.

Parking is in the adjoining Regional Pool car park, where charges apply, or park elsewhere if more suitable for you.

The race will be of 20 minutes duration and is for senior riders, although depending on numbers we may well accept youth A riders.

This event will follow on from a morning of youth racing that we are hosting from 10:00 as part of the Muddy Monsters series which you are welcome to come along and watch or help out.

All welcome and if you are interested in riding it would be helpful to know in advance (please respond to helen.malc@ntlworld. Entry will be £4 per rider and there is a club trophy up for grabs. The event is quite suitable for all abilities with novice riders welcome.

HELPSTON CHAINGANG SATURDAY
As per last week, there's a Saturday morning Chaingang from Helpston, where various riders from around the area, meet up and have a fast, through and off session, with no waiting.
Lindsay and myself will be doing it again this week and can meet up with any clubmates at Helpston at 9.30am for an hour steady warm up, followed by an hour of Chaingang (10.30am), if there is one (if not we'll start our own) and then ride home.

We should all get 2 1/2/3hrs in, with a hard/fast hour thrown in.

Who's up for it?

Lindsay and I will help you/show you the ropes//keep an eye out for you if you don't know what a Chaingang is.

Cheers
Steve
