Friday we will once again be at The Embankment Athletic Track on Bishops Road starting at 6:30 through until 7:30, with free parking in the adjoining Regional Pool car park from 6:00. This week we will be making use of the track, so if you have a choice a smoother tyre would be preferred, but as always all roadworthy bikes are fine.
On Saturday it will be the fourth and final round of our youth Cyclocross championship in Milton Keynes https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/185291/Corley-Cycles-Cross/Central-Cyclo-Cross-League-Round-9

If you'd still like some tickets please let me know soon, or bring your money along on Friday. It takes place at the Peterborough Indoor bowls club on Saturday 24th November from 19:30 and tickets are £15 for adults or £5 for under 16's. We have a special guest booked in Robbie Ferri and a lovely selection of raffle prizes,

Friday evening RACENIGHT!!

This Friday 9th November we will be holding another of our youth racenights, this time with a cyclocross format, so we will be on the grass and every rider will get two races. These will still suit ALL of our youth riders, but with the added attraction of some riders from other clubs joining us for a few races, making it ideal entry level racing, and suitable for getting started with competitive events. Each event will be in age groups, so even our youngest will be able to take part, and the oldest will riders will be under 16 age group (racing separately to the younger ones)

Entry will be £4 on the day from 6.00pm with races to start at 6.30 and finish around 8.00 with prizes for the two event series on Friday 14th December. Hopefully our youngsters will all want to try these events, they seem to have a competitve streak even when not racing, so it should make a nice change to our usual format.

We could do with a few helpers on the night, so if you are able to help please let me know.

  • Riders, the more the merrier for good racing. All youth riders welcome.
  • Cakes, if you can bring one along please do, and ideally let me know beforehand
  • Refreshments - two to help out with them
  • Signing on - two people required
  • Timekeepers - three people required
  • Demo rider to show the riders round the course
  • Helpers for setting up, could do with a couple of helpers who could ideally get there early

The details are on the British Cycling website, but as its entry on the night things are not too different to normal.

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/188060/Fenland-Clarion-Go-Ride-Cross-Races

This will be at our usual venue The Embankment Athletic Track, Bishops Road, PE1 5BW.

Inter Club Wattbike Evening

With The Hereward League returning in 2019, what better way to promote the competition than with a winters evening of racing on the Wattbikes.

So in keeping with this Fenland Clarion will host the evening with our friends from Bourne Wheelers, Peterborough C.C. and Spalding C.C. The aim is for each club to enter a team of five riders to compete over a series of short races in a friendly competitive environment on Monday 27th November at Brookside Church on Gunthorpe Road PE4 7TG.

This will start at 7.00 and we'll be finished by 9.00.

The format will be teams of five riders, ideally of mixed ability, and if you want to ride for Fenland please let Malc know ASAP. Each rider will get at least 3 races with team and handicap events. The bikes take spd and Look Keo cleats, although trainers are fine and will be required as well anyway. The races will vary from around 500 metres to one mile. Entry will be per team at £25 to cover our venue costs and the odd prize.

Rollers and turbos are welcome if riders want to have the chance to do any sort of warm up.

Spectators are very welcome and tea & coffee will be available, so if you don't fancy riding you can always come down, socialise with your clubmates, and cheer your team to victory, or otherwise with club colours to be encouraged.

Lincoln 2019 race series

Hi to all

We have been asked if we would be prepared to co-host a closed circuit race at Yarborough, Lincoln, LN1 3SP and usually held on the first Saturday of the month during the summer. These events have events for youth agegroups and senior riders.

This would mean we get to be part of the series and would be a good option for our riders who are prepared to travel for such events, as in reality there are not closed circuits less than an hours drive away.

However we would need a minimum of six helpers to arrange signing on, teas, marshals & judges.

If you would like us to take part and are LIKELY to be willing to help please let me know so we can get in early and hopefully get a choice of dates.
Many thanks

Racedates

I have a few dates for your diaries, with events that would be suitable for any of our youth riders.

We will be hosting two racenights on Fridays 9th November & 14th December. As usual i'll be asking nearer the time for a few helpers and it would be great to get a good turnout of our young riders.

The Muddy Monsters series will be going ahead with three provisional dates so far, and there could be a couple more added soon. Ely on Saturday 1st December, Kings Lynn Saturday 5th January and Fenland to host ours on Saturday 19th January - so riders and helpers wanted once again!

Also we have the club presentation night on Saturday 24th November and there are already a few from the youth section going, so if you'd like to join them I'll have tickets on Friday evenings at £15 per adult and £5 per under 16. There will be a few youth trophies to present and we are aiming to make it an enjoyable evening for all ages.
