Last Bluebell 10 of the season

The last Bluebell 10 of the season drew in a decent number of riders as we returned to the more traditional course based on the village of Helpston.

It was cloudy overhead to start with and there was a strong South Westerly which made it really hard from Bainton to the top of Ufford hill.

Considering the conditions the times were really impressive with a number of riders improving their times of recent weeks.

At the race's conclusion it was down off the heath and into Helpston for a buffet, prize giving and the chance to try on a new range of winter kit from Ellmore.

As the weekly 10 series ends, it is important to thank all of the people who have put signs out, donned hi viz to stand in the cold and make the event as safe as possible for those who ride it.

Your efforts are much appreciated by all those who pin on a number.

New winter kit samples available at final 10 tonight

(With massive thanks to Ellmore cycle clothing).

Ellmore

Tonight sees the final Bluebell 10 of the season, followed by the annual buffet over the heath at John Clare Centre in Helpston.

A late addition to the programme this evening is a bundle of performance winter cycle clothing samples from our kit supplier Ellmore.

Steve Clarke will be there to help you try on for sizing and talk through some of the differences in kit available.

It will depend on the number of riders competing and timings whether we get time to do this at the finish of the 10 or have to go into the village, but please do come along and try some kit on.

Time Trial & Grasstrack CANCELLED

The 5 mile time trial scheduled for Monday 6th August has been cancelled due to the traffic lights in Ufford.

The Grasstrack event due to be on Sunday 12th August will no longer be held.

More road works sees club 10 shortened.

Wednesday was a rare treat for riders in the club time trial.

Roadworks at the top of Ufford Hill took the steep little climb out and reduced the event to a reasonably flat out and back to Bretton.

The new course continues to be evaluated with committee members observing traffic and riders during the trial period.

Test 10 after this week

DIFFERENT BLUEBELL COURSE FOR NEXT THREE WEEKS...(Not this week, usual course this week)
For the next three weeks we will be trying out a different/alternative course for our Wednesday night TT's.
(25th July, 1st Aug and 8th August) For the final week of the season we will be back on the usual Helpston circuit.
The aim of this trial, is to see if the new course is suitable from a riding and safety point of view. After the trial period, we will canvas the opinions of the riders and marshals and decide whether to use the course in the future.
Don't forget, the start time for the TT's in August is 6.45pm, as opposed to 7pm and after the final week, we have the End of Season Buffet and Prize presentation.
NEW COURSE DETAILS
START on outskirts of Bainton on unclassified road in the direction of Ufford, after left hand bend and 25 yards before gatepost to Nature Reserve. Proceed through Ufford and Marholm and turn at Roundabout (Marshals) with Bretton Way (just after Crematorium), Peterborough.
Take 5th exit and retrace outward route through Marholm to FINISH just before Ufford, in line with Bridleway (to Southey Woods) sign.
Parking: Farmer Vergette’s field. Between Bainton and Ufford on the left hand side coming from Bainton by the sweeping RH bend, before the tighter LH bend just before Ufford. It’ll be signed posted on the night.

Friday evening fun and games

As we haven't had an evening of fun & games on bikes with parents joining in for quite a while we thought this Friday would be a good time before many of you head away for your summer holidays.
So this Friday we hope that many parents will also bring their bike along and join in a few games, and we might even be able to find a few prizes.
We are likely to use both the grass and the track during the evening so a versatile bike would be helpful if you have a choice, although as everywhere is very dry all bikes will be fine.
Regards
Malc
