Additional events planned for this Fridays junior session 6 Oct

This Friday we will be having our regular youth coached session with a few extras thrown in for good measure.

As we have now been at the Athletic Track for 5 years it seems an ideal opportunity to have an extended session so we'll finish the session with a few games and i'll bring some cake

Friday 6th October
Embankment Athletic Track (free parking from 6.00 in the Regional pool carpark) PE1 5BW
6.30 - 8.30 pm (anyone still wanting to leave at 7.30 thats fine but please let us know at the start of the evening)
Adult Cross Training (& selected older youth riders)
Balance bikes ideal for pre-school youngsters
Club Kit - Adam will have club kit including some winter kit samples to try before you buy

All this as well as our regular youth session which will be Cyclocross themed, so if you have a choice please bring your most suitable bike for the grass.

Please be there ready for a 6.30 start at the Embankment Athletic Track on Bishops Road for an hour or more of riding.

Grass Track Racing

Hi to all

There are a number of Grasstrack events in our area over the next few weeks that hopefully a few of our riders, both youths & seniors might want to enter.

Fenland Clarion are part of the Go Green grasstrack series and will be hosting an event on Saturday 5th August at The Embankment Athletic Track on Bishops Road. This will be open to fixed wheel riders, both youths & seniors and there will be freewheel races for youths only. Remember the club has some fixed wheel bikes that can be used in these events and would be suitable for youths or smallish adults. So please enter or if you'd rather offer to help out on the day, or just come and watch. Entries are now online at https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/165739/Fenland-Clarion-Grass-Track

Also in the series are similar events with the Sleaford event on 15th July, Bourne 23rd July, Heckington 29th July and Spalding on 9th September.

PLEASE NOTE for Heckington the youth racing is by invite only and Fenland have been invited to enter a team of 6 riders, with at least one girl. Youth riders for this should let me know they want to ride, there is no online entry. This event is part of a large traditional village show with many other events going on during the day, see http://www.heckingtonshow.org.uk/

All event organisers would appreciate you getting your entries in early, and it would be great if the club could be well represented in these events. There are further grasstrack dates on the clubs website, or the British Cycling website that has full details.

Any questions please let me know.

5 mile Time Trials

Just a quick reminder that its the fourth and last of this years 5 mile time trials on Monday 7th August. Although originally just for youths and ladies we've now opened them up to everyone (minimum age 12 years of course). Signing on is from 6.30 - 6.45 at the former Exeter Arms in Helpston with the first rider off at 7.01. Could really do with 2 - 3 marshals as well if anyone is available, should be all done by 7.45 latest, please let Malc or Steve know if you can help.

25 team record in jeaporday

Yesterday Paul Lilley, Mark Ingram and Simon Pitchford were just 9 seconds off beating the Club record for the Men's 25 mile team. Their aggregate time of 2.45.55 was made up of 54.44, 55.31 and 55.50 respectively and failed to eclipse the record established by Ian Waddy Waddilove, Martin Jones and Paul Lilley in 2008.
Also competing the Eastern Counties Cycling Association 25 mile Championship at Newmarket, were Richard Rich Moys 56.17, Steve Kaye 56.51, Lindsay Clarke 1.00.01 and Steve Clarke 1.00.04

Well done to all !
