Youth Hostelling Weekend 24-26 April
I have made a provisional booking with Hawes Youth Hostel (Upper Wensleydale, Yorkshire Dales) for the nights of Friday 24 and Sat 25 April at a total cost per person for 2 nights of £60 evening meal, bed & breakfast. Superb location for challenging rides (Buttertubs, plus Tan Hill, Fleet Moss, Park Rash, The Fleak, The Coal Road, to name but a few climbs that the Tour dared not go up last year!) between the dales or easier rides along Wensleydale: lovely scenery, villages and cafes, not to mention numerous pubs in Hawes! Day rides of differing difficulty on Saturday and a ride finishing early pm on the Sunday. Let me know by Friday 6th February with £15 deposit if you want to go, so I can confirm numbers; if you decide after then you can book direct but may be a risk that all beds are gone. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. Balance £45 to me by 25 Feb (or you can pay full amount by 6 Feb) Cheers! Ian Todd

Club run stalwart's farewell message...
From James McCulloch:
Now it’s just a few days until I leave Peterborough and the UK, I am realising that I am just not going to get a chance to ride out with you all one last time. Since back from Sydney, the weekends have been full of last minute packing and many farewells. All great fun, but I am really missing the bikes- all of which are on a container currently somewhere between Singapore and NZ!
I would have really liked to get one last local ride in (although the lack of a bike and any cycling clothes was a slight challenge!), but I think realistically its probably time for me to say farewell: for now, at least.
It’s been an absolute pleasure to ride with you and ‘the boys’- many happy miles, and a few cold and painful ones too- but all great memories, and something I should have started years ago.
I have already made enquiries to find a club in NZ, and failing that, I may have to start a Sunday club run group?!
Please do pass this on to the Sunday club runners, and if you or any of the others are ever in NZ, please do look me up- there will always be a spare bike for you there.
We’ll be on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and at 18 Portage Place, Whitby, Porirua 5024, enjoying the view...
Cheers,
James
