In windy by dry conditions the field took to the old A1 at Sawtry for 10 miles of time trial action. Though still to be ratified by the N&DCA, here are the provisional results.

Hi Clubmates

Have decided to  cancel this evening’s Bluebell 10 at Helpston, due to roadworks.

There has been Chipping/Gravelling work on the course yesterday between the garden centre and the level crossing rendering the course untraceable for this week at least. Trying to find out if more work is being planned, hopefully the surface will have settled down for next’s planned event.

With the Tour dr France coming back to England in 2014, it represents a great chance for Fenland Clarion members to get together and celebrate the race. 

In 2008 we filled 2 buses and headed off to London in our matching t-shirts before painting The Mall yellow for the afternoon. 

We have the extra opportunity to head out on our bikes to Cambridge on the Monday but before then comes the weekend in Yorkshire.

Our initial plan is to find a campsite somewhere in the middle of the Northern stages to use as a base for the weekend before heading back to Peterborough on the Sunday evening for a Monday pedal to the third stage. 

Of course this all depends on whether their is sufficient interest and desire within the club to make a trip viable.

Racing Secretary has visited the circuit for the Place-Place/Hardriders and have decided to call tomorrow’s event off.

There’s snow across the road in many places and still snowing and sub zero temperatures forecast over night.

We’ll come up with another date for the event.

The Sportive from Marholm has had to be postponed to Sunday 19th May to avoid a clash with the Rutland Cicle classic Pro Race on 21st April. All other details including the routes and the £10 advance entry fee (£12 on the day) remain the same. Entry can be made via Marholm sportive more details are on the official event website www.peterborough5x5challenge.org All proceeds will go to local good causes including the National Clarion Easter Meet funds.

Our Friday evening coached sessions are now continuing on the First & Third Fridays of each month. These are at The Embankment Athletic track on Bishops Road PE1 5BW from 6.30 - 7.30pm. During the winter months we will continue under the floodlights and concentrate mainly on the skills of cyclocross, with some road skills sessions on the track when the weather permits.

Each session costs £3 with a reduction to £2 for club members.

Most of the sessions are run with two groups, the younger juniors with a minimum age of seven years & the older and more capable juniors will be in another group with some senior riders. Both groups will concentrate on developing their skills, and we will have a few races for the more competitively minded riders, although not every week.

We also have some bikes & helmets for newcomers to borrow (no charge), although this should ideally be arranged in advance to ensure availability.

The pavillion is open each week where spectators or waiting parents can stay warm and dry with basic refreshments provided.
